Healthy Response to Stress

There is always stress when it comes to the holidays but it's not always bad! I stressed out over black Friday....I haven't been shopping the day after Thanksgiving for two years because the time my family went my grandma got ran over and she broke her hand. But that is here nor there... I went this year... I wanted a laptop from Walmart so I was a little stressed but it pushed me to get up early and stand in line...Even though I still didn't get the Laptop. But it was an adrenaline rush!

Relationships

I am in a lot of relationships. I am a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister to seven, a girlfriend, a friend, and the list can keep going. The most important relationship to me is the one I have with my little brother. I am the sixth child of seven. There is a 12 year difference between my brother and I but we are closer than that at heart. I babysat him every summer since he was born and every year our relationship grows. It's harder now because I'm in college, but I still try to go and visit on the weekends. I think one thing that we need to do to keep this relationship growing is; making time for each other no matter what. I know that we are brother and sister and we will always have a relationship but I always want to be close to my little brother.

WSC Student death

There are rumors all over campus. Some may be true and others are most likely not! I use to walk the nature trail around Wayne when it was nice outside. I saw, who I know now as Hilary, everyday on that path. She was very skinny and looked like she weighed maybe fifty pounds. She looked like she had an eating disorder but I do my best not to judge. When I found out that she had died, my heart went out to her family and friends. May she rest in peace!

"Personal Growth"

Through this class I have learned a lot and now I am starting to open my eyes up to more situations.  I am closer with my family. I listen a lot better to what people are saying and I take my school work a little more seriously.  As far as my personal growth......I'm trying to overall be a better person.  Help out on the farm more. Study a little harder and play a little less.

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of being the person you are!

I think that this quote is a very good life lesson.  These days you see people that try harder to be skinny, or try harder to be funny.  They see people that they enjoy being around or they envy and try to be like them.  But what they are forgetting is that you are your own person.  I myself went through this when I came to college.  I tried the whole party seen and it wasn't me.  I hate being around that.  So I accepted who I am and now I am so much happier.  Don't waste the person you are!  Life is short....so live it!

Friendship

What does friendship mean to you?  To me it is an everlasting bond that holds two or more people together forever.  Coming to college was very scary.  Having no friends was one thing but then you add stressful classes on top of that.  It almost seems like too much to handle.  Over time I became very close with some girls down the hall.  To this day our friendship is forever growing.  Sometimes we have bumps and fights but in the end we all know that we would bend over backwards for each other.  The best thing about college is you can choose your friends.  So love the ones that treat you right and forget about the one that don't!  Friendship is the key to happiness!

The First six years of Life

I do agree with the statement, "to a large extent, your self-concept is formed by what others tell you about yourself, especially during the formative years of childhood."  The reason I believe this statement is, because most children look up to elders as an example.  By showing children at a young age to be polite, and respectful to other people, they will keep these traits throughout their entire life.  By reminding a child that he or she did something good and encourage that behavior then they will continue doing so, to receive positive reinforcement.  One of the things that I was taught at a young age is to say please and thank you.  To this day I say please and thank you for everything.  Simply because that is how I was raised and because it feels good to be polite.
