Friendship

What does friendship mean to you?  To me it is an everlasting bond that holds two or more people together forever.  Coming to college was very scary.  Having no friends was one thing but then you add stressful classes on top of that.  It almost seems like too much to handle.  Over time I became very close with some girls down the hall.  To this day our friendship is forever growing.  Sometimes we have bumps and fights but in the end we all know that we would bend over backwards for each other.  The best thing about college is you can choose your friends.  So love the ones that treat you right and forget about the one that don't!  Friendship is the key to happiness!

The First six years of Life

I do agree with the statement, "to a large extent, your self-concept is formed by what others tell you about yourself, especially during the formative years of childhood."  The reason I believe this statement is, because most children look up to elders as an example.  By showing children at a young age to be polite, and respectful to other people, they will keep these traits throughout their entire life.  By reminding a child that he or she did something good and encourage that behavior then they will continue doing so, to receive positive reinforcement.  One of the things that I was taught at a young age is to say please and thank you.  To this day I say please and thank you for everything.  Simply because that is how I was raised and because it feels good to be polite.

One thing that struck me as important for change in chapter one was paradoxical theory of change.  The reason I think that this is important is because so many people try so hard to be someone or something they are not.  I think it is very important to except your self as your own person and love yourself for who you are.  Other peoples opinion of you should not matter.  The truth is you can never be truly happy until you are happy with yourself!
